A great door is opened unto you and me to be a livingproof this year and there are many enemies.   But one of the greatest enemies or adversaries is ‘not being able to let go’.

To let go is to release, to ease off your heart, to remove, to let go of your grip, to overlook etc.

Until you let go, God cannot step in, and if God is out of the way, it will become absolutely impossible to become what you desire to be.

Many are stagnated and lot of people are going through poverty and pains due to the failure to let go. They look elsewhere for solution, freedom or way out yet they failed to let go.  A lot are held in the ‘prison yard of unforgiveness’. Until you are able to let go you will remain totally in bondage of life challenges.

Also note: Failure to let go is deadly, it will make you a killer even to yourself.

What to let go to avoid being a killer

  • Hurt and offence (offence is wounding the feelings or others) it is impossible for offence not to come ” Luke 17:1, failure to let go of offences lead to destruction. David was offended by Nabal and would have destroyed the entire household but for the intervention of Abigail for an offence by Nabal. Russians war against Ukraine led to death of many all because of offences. Until you let go  death is inevitable.
  • Bitterness(grievance, envy, score, grudges) Thisis costly and continuous bitterness and it is deadly. Deal with offences as they come and avoid bitterness.  Job 21:25 “And another dieth in the bitterness of his soul and never eaten with pleasure. Racheal was barren for a long time because of bitterness.
  • Anger is a killer – (Annoyance, fury, ill tempered) Cain killed Abel in anger. Genesis 4: 5, 8   “But unto Cain he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth and his countenance fell” and eventually slewed his brother.  It destroys the one who is angry. Saul anger against David led to his destruction. The king was fury and made the three Hebrew boys to be casted into a fiery furnace of fire, and Daniel in the lions Den. Daniel 3:19-20.
  • Unforgiveness. Luke 17:3-4. Forgiveness does not diminish Justice.
  • Pride. To be self full is to be God empty, to be God empty is to leave a miserable life.  Only those who humbled themselves are lifted by God. Pride always comes before destruction.  Queen Vashti. King Herod was eaten of worms and gave up the ghost due to pride. Acts 12:21-22.
  • Selfishness  is a killer. The rich fool Luke 12:16-20. To be selfish is to be foolish. To be selfless is to be lovely and to be lovely is to be full of God, to be full of God is to be compassionate.  If you are full of self, you cannot pray for others. You cannot reach out or help the less privilege. Let God care for you by taking care of others.

  • Hatred (ill will, detestation, despising). This is also deadly. Joseph’s brothers hated him Gen 37:4., Esau hated Jacob, Gen 27:41. God always make a way for everyone that is hated. Leah was hated and God opened her womb. Genesis 29:31.
  • Envy and Jealousy (covetousness, envious of another person’s position) Racheal envied her sister Genesis 30:1. Leah had six sons and one daughter before God remembered Racheal. Most of our trouble is self caused. We need to understand the fact  that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose.  Romans 8:28.
  • Worry (anxiety, troubled, concerned, disturbed the peace of mind) leading to mental agitation or stress.  Don’t kill yourself with worry.  Whatever God can not do let it remain undone.
  • Murmuring and complain.  This destroys and complicate matters. Rejoice always. 1Thess 5:16 “Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vine, the labour of the olive shall fall and the field shall yield no meat, the flock shall be cut off from the fold and there shall be no herd in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the lord i will joy in the God of my salvation” Habakkuk 3:17-18

It takes Joy and rejoicing to facilitate God intervention for the breakthrough desired.

Why you  need to let go .

1. For God to take its place. “The Lord shall fight for you and ye shall hold your peace”  Exodus 14:14

2. To be free from self harm. It is of more benefit to you than those you released. Eg Racheal, many are going through pains both physical and mental due to failure to let go.

3. To be full of virtues You can’t be full of God and lack virtues like supernatural wisdom and others. You will be totally empty without supernatural wisdom. A wise woman build her home, the foolish destroy with her hand, Proverb 14:1

4. Peace. No peace with rivalry in your heart. Racheal had no peace until she let go of hatred.

5. For continuous Joy and happiness. Isaiah 12:3. “Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the Wells of salvation”

6. Longevity.  Failure to let go lead to premature death.  Life does not tolerate a vacuum. If you are gone someone will take over. But your place no man shall occupy in Jesus name.  Isaiah 65:22-23 shall be your testimony in Jesus name. You shall not build for another to inhabit, you shall not plant and another eat, for as the days of the tree, so shall your days. You shall live long to enjoy the work of your hand. You shall not Labour in vain nor put Fithian in trouble

How to let go

1. Let the love of God set in. Let Gods love be shed abroad in your heart.  Roman 5:5. 1Jn 4: 7 ” Beloved, let us love one another for love is of God, and every one that loveth is born of God and know God”

2. Live a life of advanced forgiveness. Know that offence will surely come. Luke 17:1-5

3. Be ready to forget. Failure to forget always open up the unhealed wound and keep its look fresh. Isaiah 43: 18-19 “Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold I will do a new thing now it shall spring forth, shall ye not know it?  I will even make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert”

4. Try to overlook anything that can lead to offence and hurts. Avoid anything that want to take away your happiness.

5. Pray for grace.  It takes grace to let go. Apostle Paul says 1Corinthian 15:10. This grace is being empowerment on the alter of prayer. ” let’s therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need “Hebrew 4:16

You have move round this mountain long enough, it’s time to surrender.
